WHO WE ARE
We are a non-profit community hospital under the auspices of the Church of Uganda. The facility was established in 2003 by an American Doctor Scott who felt a mission to come and serve the Batwa pygmies who had been evicted from the Bwindi Impenetrable forest when it was gazetted a mountain gorilla sanctuary. Child deaths among this sub population was very high.
However, it later turned out that their health needs were not very different from the general population where pregnant mothers were dying from easily preventable causes. This encouraged growth of this small clinic to fully fledged hospital with 135 beds, giving birth to Uganda Nursing School Bwindi 6 years ago, and Uganda College of Health Sciences Bwindi in 2019 to boost a depleted health workforce with top-notch health care professionals.
A healthy and productive community free from preventable disease and with excellent health services accessible to all.
Serving Jesus Christ through giving holistic health care and life in all its fullness to the staff, patients, clients and visitors in the Hospital and community.
A regional centre of excellence offering tertiary healthcare, training top notch healthcare professionals and leading in innovation through research.
